Digitalisation

Digital solutions in construction have great potential to increase productivity, reduce construction costs, alleviate burdensome and physical tasks, improve the data collection and analysis of energy efficiency performances, and lower life-cycle costs of buildings. However, digital tools, such as BIM, will only be adopted among the whole value chain if they are affordable, easy to access and constitute a real added value to construction SMEs and crafts.

Given their limited size and lack of expertise, SMEs need the support from large contractors, architects, manufacturers and further actors to embrace digitalisation. Therefore, EBC collaborates intensively with all construction actors to enable a successful and inclusive digital transformation of the construction sector and promotes the principles of the . Moreover, EBC participates in EU funded projects  that aim to develop easy-to-use digital tools for construction SMEs and coordinates the SBS strategic approach on BIM to make sure that digital construction standards answer to SMEs’ needs.
