Skills: Second meeting with Pact for skills in construction signatories organised by EBC, FIEC and EFBWW

October 23, 2025

Today, the coordinators of the Pact for Skills in Construction EBC, FIEC and EFBWW jointly organised online the second signatories meeting of the Pact for Skills (PfS) in Construction, bringing together representatives from industry, trade unions, training organisations and EU institutions to strengthen collaboration on skills for a greener, more digital and inclusive construction sector.

The session provided an opportunity to share progress, good practices and new initiatives supporting the Pact’s objectives. Tina Weber from Eurofound presented the findings of an upcoming report on the impact of the green and digital transitions on employment and skills needs in the construction industry. Kristian Jensen from Divers – Lige muligheder for alle introduced the inspiring Danish initiative “Boss Ladies,” which aims to attract and retain more women in construction by promoting equal opportunities and leadership.

Then, Andrés Mella from Fundación Laboral de la Construcción shared the latest updates on the EU-funded Construction Blueprint 2 project, developed with over 20 partners from 10 countries. The project focuses on creating strategic training pathways, innovative digital and green skills tools, and practical resources to support construction SMEs and workers in adapting to ongoing transitions.

In this regard, this month, the first joint newsletter of the Pact for Skills in Construction has been launched and developed by EBC, FIEC and EFBWW under the Construction Blueprint 2 project. The newsletter brings together updates and insights from Pact coordinators and signatories, highlighting key initiatives, ongoing projects and new opportunities shaping the future of the European construction industry.

The meeting also looked ahead to the development of a common monitoring framework for Pact signatories, designed to measure progress on training, inclusion and sustainability across Europe. This shared effort will help align national strategies, enhance cooperation and ensure that skills development remains at the heart of Europe’s competitiveness and resilience.

As joint coordinators of the Pact for Skills in Construction, EBC, FIEC and EFBWW reaffirmed their commitment to expanding the network, promoting collaboration among all stakeholders, and turning shared goals into concrete actions at both national and European levels.

The Pact for Skills in Construction stands as a cornerstone initiative, demonstrating that collaboration, innovation and shared responsibility are essential to building a future-proof and sustainable European construction industry.
