Health & Safety: EBC receives Campaign Partner Certificate at EU-OSHA Healthy Workplaces Campaign Event in Brussels

May 23, 2025

On 20 and 21 May, EBC attended the Healthy Workplaces Campaign – Good Practices Exchange event organised by the European Agency for Health and Safety (EU-OSHA) in Brussels.

The event brought together key players to explore the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI), digital skills, and emerging risks on occupational safety and health (OSH). Several high-level EU representatives shared their perspectives, including Mario Nava, Director General for Employment; MEP Li Andersson (GUE/NGL, Finland), Chair of the European Parliament’s Employment and Social Affairs (EMPL) Committee, MEP Katrin Langensiepen (Greens, Germany), Vice-Chair of the EMPL Committee; and William Cockburn Salazar, EU-OSHA Executive Director.

Various workshops were held, focusing on key topics such as practical examples of AI application in OSH, the use of AI in the workplace, the digitalization-related skills required by OSH professionals, and the emerging risks and opportunities presented by the digital age.

At this occasion, EBC received the Campaign Partner Certificate in recognition of its commitment in the campaign. In addition to regularly informing its members and network about technical and legislative developments in OSH, EBC decided in this campaign to connect with its involvement in two Horizon Europe projects dedicated to human-centric innovation, digitalisation and robotisation: HumanTech and BEEYONDERS. In their attempt to bridge the gap between innovation and construction companies, these EU-funded initiatives exemplify EBC’s responsibility to enhancing safety and health within the sector while advancing the objectives of the EU-OSHA Healthy Workplaces Campaign.

Indeed, running from 2023 to 2025, the current Healthy Workplaces Campaign aims to raise awareness about how digital technologies are transforming the world of work and their implications for OSH. It highlights both the risks and opportunities linked to this digital transition, while promoting the exchange of good practices across sectors. The campaign supports the EU’s ‘vision zero’ approach to eliminating work-related accidents and illnesses and aligns with broader strategies such as the EU Strategic Framework on Health and Safety at Work 2021–2027 and the European Digital Strategy. Its focus is structured around five key areas: digital platform work, advanced robotics and artificial intelligence, remote work, smart digital systems, and worker management through AI.

Safe working conditions for both workers and entrepreneurs is a pillar of the construction SMEs and crafts gathered in EBC. In this sense, EBC looks forward to engaging into initiatives aiming at guaranteeing optimum protection for workers through realistic occupational rules, adequate funding for health and safety and training adapted to SME worksites.
