On November 12, the International Advisory Board of the CondoReno LIFE project, co-organized by EBC and the International Union of Property Owners (UIPI), convened its first meeting online. This session aimed to advance the development of Integrated Home Renovation Services (IHRS) for condominiums by addressing supply-demand dynamics, policy frameworks, and innovative business models. The meeting brought together stakeholders from diverse sectors, including construction supply chains, condominium associations, and policy and advocacy representatives, ensuring a broad representation of expertise.
Key discussions focused on long-term financial models, as well as the creation of robust, sustainable business frameworks to ensure IHRS viability beyond short-term funding. Participants also underscored the need for non-technical messaging to engage homeowners and identified gaps in legal frameworks and training for condominium managers as critical barriers. Collaborative efforts, such as one-stop-shop models proposed by representatives from Hungary and Belgium, showcased the potential for innovative, EU-wide solutions. The session concluded with actionable recommendations, including a focus on workshops and tailored strategies to address unique national challenges.
The following day, November 13, EBC participated in the CondoReno’s Steering Committee meeting held in Brussels by EMBUILD. This gathering focused on evaluating project progress and planning next steps, with EBC co-leading discussions on dissemination and communication under Work Package 8 alongside UIPI. The meeting began with updates on the eight IHRS demonstration cases, analyzing their status and refining tools and questionnaires to improve data collection and support future implementation. A mini workshop addressed the improvement of toolkits essential for the IHRS roadmap, while discussions on policy and training strategies highlighted approaches to activating the supply chain and implementing effective training programs in Flanders and the Netherlands. These collaborative efforts reaffirmed the project’s commitment to creating and replicating IHRS across Europe, laying the groundwork for long-term success.
