EBC is organizing the final event of the Horizon 2020 project BIM4REN, coming to its end after four years of challenges and big achievements. This event falls under the umbrella of the European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) 2022, which aims at bringing together public authorities and stakeholders to move towards renewables for clean, secure and efficient energies.
Titled “Making the Renovation Wave a reality: Easy-to-use digital tools for construction SMEs“, this online event ambitions to raise awareness on existing easy-to-use digital tools for the construction sector developed by BIM4Ren and on the skills needed by construction SMEs to effectively implement the Renovation Wave and the EU Green Deal objectives.
Addressed to construction stakeholders and EU policymakers, this initiative will include an opening speech by the European Commission, followed by a presentation of the digital innovations developed by BIM4Ren bringing an added value to the market of the energy-efficient renovation of buildings. The event will conclude with a broader conversation on the skills needs of SMEs in the context of the twin digital and green transition, with SMEunited, EBC and GBC Italia, the organisation behind the BIM4Ren Training program.
Indeed, while digital construction has been mainly in use for new construction, there is an increasing use and application in energy renovation projects targeting the existing building stock, a crucial market for construction SMEs, which represent 99% of the European construction sector. In a 90-minutes format, while contributing to the debates on a sustainable built environment, the event aims at showcasing innovation in construction to show the potential to contribute to the EU environmental ambitions, as well as to improve the image of the sector in the European civil society in order to attract new talents.
