The European Builders Confederation (EBC) is currently looking to recruit a Secretary General (SG) to lead and manage the Brussels-based office.
The role
The Secretary General provides leadership to the association’s Secretariat. The Secretary General is the public face of the association by sitting in some of the most relevant consultative bodies and committees involving industry stakeholders. The SG represents EBC in the wider European SME stakeholders community within SMEunited and SBS.
The role demands close and regular contacts with member associations and with the European Institutions, particularly the Commission and the Parliament.
In close connection with the EBC President, the Secretary General implements the orientations given by the EBC Board, to which the SG reports directly. Managing a team of 5 in the Brussels office, the SG organises the day-to-day work of EBC, including meetings, events and conferences, carrying out and overseeing all efforts related to policy formation, public affairs and communication.
The person
The successful candidate is a motivational forward-looking leader with at least 3 years of management-level experience in the European policy arena. He/she has a proven track record in understanding and influencing the decisions of the European institutions, as well as in the field of project and financial management. The role requires direct participation in EU funded projects.
He/she will be a credible ambassador for the industry, with first-class communication skills for regular public speaking occasions and presentations. The candidate must prove hands-on working skills, the ability to lead a small international team and to identify with the causes of the construction SMEs constituency, made of millions of very small businesses. He/she will be fluent in English and French, with Italian being a strong asset.
The conditions
The contractual conditions under Belgian employment law include a full-time undetermined contract with an attractive compensation package related to experience.
