The European Builders Confederation (EBC) is a European professional organisation representing 18 national employer associations of construction crafts and SMEs towards the European institutions. The EBC Secretariat, based in Brussels, ensures the day-to-day activity of the association and is currently looking for a pro-active and motivated Policy Officer (full time).
YOUR PROFILE
The successful candidate will be a motivated, talented and flexible professional with a strong interest in EU policy – in particular energy and environmental issues, but also internal market and digitalisation. In order to succeed, he/she has very good knowledge and first-hand experience with regard to the EU decision-making process as well as a proven track record in establishing a stakeholder network to support the daily advocacy work. The successful candidate is fluent in English, with knowledge of other languages considered a plus (in particular French and/or Italian).
He/she is a dedicated individual and excellent team player, who can handle several areas at the same time. In addition, the successful candidate is capable of taking own initiatives, showing ownership and going beyond his/her tasks.
With a Master Degree and a proven track record of at least 3 years of experience in Public Affairs, the Policy Officer will play a key role in shaping and further promoting EBC’s activities
YOUR ROLE
The Policy Officer will be responsible for energy and environmental affairs as well as economic and internal market issues. Relevant upcoming policy topics will include the Energy Efficiency Directive, the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive and further policies within the frame of the European Green Deal.
Reporting to the Secretary-General, he/she will notably be in charge of the following tasks:
- Proactive communication and advocacy work towards European institutions;
- External representation of the association’s position vis-à-vis political decision-makers and interest groups by attending and speaking at workshops and conferences;
- Monitoring, analysis and evaluation of legislative documents and policy developments;
- Development of position papers, briefings, strategies, consultation responses and other relevant materials, in close cooperation with EBC members;
- Active participation and policy contribution to EBC activities in EU-funded projects;
- Continuous support to EBC members;
- Contribution to the content of EBC communication tools.
WHAT WE OFFER
EBC offers a long-term contract to the successful candidate in an attractive working environment within a dynamic, international and young team. The gross monthly salary will be fixed according to professional experience. Lunch vouchers are also provided. The position allows and requires flexible working hours, but awards satisfaction, responsibilities and potential for growth to a dedicated professional. The starting date for the successful candidate is beginning of May.
