The Horizon 2020 project BIM4Ren had a very busy month behind, made of internal meetings and external events as the number of discoveries and developments is accelerating in this Research & Innovation project focused on simplifying access to easy-to-use BIM (Building Information Modelling) tools in renovation projects for energy efficiency.
It started with the very first BIM4Ren Technical day on 16 November, a technical meeting with the aims of reviewing the various tools developed within the project. Tools were not only pitched by the partners in charge, also demonstrations were carried out in order to provide a general overview of their functionalities and assess their commercial potential. The discussion continued and expanded during the BIM4Ren General Assembly taking place that same week, however focusing this time on testing in the pilot buildings and identifying technical gaps.
The project General Assembly took place over two days, on 18 and 19 November. The first day focused on the integration of the different tools & services to the BIM4REN one-stop-access-platform while having parallel workshops related to the pilot sites in France, Spain and Italy in order to define specific workflows, the articulation between the tools and a deployment calendar. On the second day, after monitoring all running activities, three additional workshops were organized, dedicated to identifying modelling renovation scenarios, preparing the future training program on tools & the platform, and deepening exchanging on workflows.
It didn’t stop there as on 27 November, BIM4Ren held its second webinar for stakeholders. Lead by the French Research Centre CSTB and the Green Building Council – Italian chapter, this webinar focused on geometry and data acquisition, with presentations of CSTB tools “LODlifter” and “Catalog editor”. Very soon the recording will be available.
