EBC is glad to welcome Maitane Olabarria Uzquiano as the new Director of Small Business Standards (SBS), the voice of European SMEs in standardisation. SBS is the European association created with the support of the European Commission to represent and defend the interests of SMEs in the standardisation process at European and international level. Conscious of the crucial role that standardisation plays in the construction sector, EBC is a founding member and project partner of SBS, coordinating all its construction-related activities.
The new SBS Director Olabarria, who succeeds Christel Davidson in this position, comes with 17 years of experience in European affairs and standardisation, nine of which spent at the European Committee for Standardisation (CEN) as Programme Manager in the Standards Department. At CEN, Ms Olabarria was responsible for standardisation activities in the areas of services, bio-based products, (bio) fuels and energy management. She has also gained more than six years of experience working for different European associations in the fields of distance selling and e-commerce (EMOTA) and machine tool and manufacturing technologies (CECIMO).
