DigiPLACE Survey: assessing the digital maturity of construction SMEs and craftsmen

Funded by the EU Horizon 2020 programme, the project “DigiPLACE – the Digital Platform framework for Construction in Europe” aims at assessing the feasibility of a European digital platform that could integrate the different technologies, applications and services currently existing in digital construction.

As core to the research efforts of this project, a survey particularly focusing on SME’s will evaluate the current situation for digitization in the construction sector.

This survey aims specifically at assessing the digital maturity of construction SMEs and craftsmen in Europe, with the aim of helping them to better address the digitalisation challenge. On the basis of the assessment, conducted under the lead of the Belgian Building Research Institute (BBRI), EBC and its members will be able to:

  • Collect quantitative and qualitative data on the digital maturity of our enterprises
  • Assess the data and use them in national and European discussions. This is especially important considering the increasing number of legal obligations on digital construction (e.g. BIM for public procurement)
  • Develop an interactive handbook, potentially with the support of the European Commission, to help SMEs to improve their digital maturity
Available in English, Spanish, French, Italian, Greek, German, Finnish, Dutch, Croatian, Latvian, Romanian, Slovakian, Swedish, and Polish, the survey (16 multiple choice questions) takes less than 10 minutes to complete.

The project consortium will distribute 5 Samsung tablets among participants through a draw.
