EBC selects new Secretary General

The European Builders Confederation (EBC) is pleased to announce that its Board has selected Eugenio Quintieri to be its new Secretary General.

Mr. Quintieri will succeed in this position Riccardo Viaggi, effective June 13.

After joining EBC as an intern in 2006, Riccardo Viaggi was nominated Secretary General in 2009. He has led the EBC team towards the achievement of the Confederation’s strategic goals through the enlargement of its membership and structure, the improvement of its performance, and building EBC’s reputation as the only voice of SMEs in the constructions sector in Brussels.

“I am not just leaving an organisation I’ve been a part of for more than 10 years. It feels like I am leaving a family. A family which showed great confidence and trust in me. The same confidence I now have in EBC’s strategy and future: EBC’s best days are yet to come. I believe construction SMEs make a real difference”.

Mr. Viaggi has been appointed Secretary General of the Committee for European Construction Equipment (CECE) effective 8 May 2017.

Mr. Quintieri has been working as a Senior Policy Advisor at ESPO (the European Sea Ports Organisation) since 2013. Within ESPO, he is responsible for internal market, port governance, economic analysis and statistics. He is also spokesperson of the ESPO Delegation in the Social Dialogue Committee for ports. Mr Quintieri holds a Master’s degree from the College of Europe in Poland.

Mr. Patrick Liébus, President of the EBC, said: “Eugenio has worked for an organisation operating at the highest level in Europe. The challenge is huge in terms of the task, but the Board and I are confident that he is the right person to lead EBC, and will ensure the best result for our organisation whilst leading an outstanding high quality team. I also want to pay tribute to the work Riccardo Viaggi and his team have done here. EBC today is significantly different from the organisation he came into more than 10 years ago; we are stronger, and sharper”.

Upon his appointment, Mr. Quintieri said: “Mr. Viaggi and his team have made great strides in transforming EBC. I am extremely honoured by this professional and human opportunity. It is a huge and exciting task, and I look forward to contributing to the future and the prosperity of the construction sector in Europe”.
