High-level Round Table on energy efficiency – we need ambition & investments

The European Commission organised a High-level round-table on energy efficiency today for an exchange of views on energy efficiency market growth prospects and investments in the view of a shift towards a low-carbon economy.
Commissioner Miguel Arias Cañete, Vice-President Jyrki Katainen, Director-General Dominique Ristori and CoR President Markku Markkula took also part in the debate. EBC had the chance to raise some points.
First of all, the Commission policy on energy efficiency in buildings has to be more ambitious – also in line with the vote of the European Parliament on 23 June. Furthermore, it is necessary to aggregate projects and promote grouping of companies to stimulate investment. This is the case of Picardie Pass Renovation, as we showed in an event organised by EBC and UIPI in March.
EBC reminded that Picardie Pass Renovation is a pilot project financed under the Juncker Plan that not only does it provide technical support, but also finance retrofitting projects through a third-party financing scheme.
