Still no agreement between the European construction social partners about posted workers

The European construction social partners still did not reach an agreement on the sensitive issue of posted workers at the last meeting of the Construction Social Dialogue Committee in May. EBC is seeking to bridge the positions of employers and workers on this topic, as it has many common points with the construction trade union EFBWW.
The European Commission released a proposal for a directive on posting of workers in March 2016, but already in May the national Parliaments of at least 10 Member States triggered the “yellow card” procedure to block the proposal.
The topic is indeed so sensitive but so important to the European construction sector that an agreement between the sectoral social partners could play a central role to create consensus around the proposal and suggest ways to improve it.
Last April already the European construction social partners were invited for the first time to address the Informal Meeting of the Social Affairs of the Ministers.
