Cooperation on a green mortgage initiative and energy efficiency

The Secretary Generals of the European Mortgage Federation – European Covered Bond Council (EMF-ECBC), Luca Bertalot, and of EBC, Riccardo Viaggi, met for the first time to talk about financing energy efficiency.
The EMF-ECBC is currently developing a green mortgage initiative. The idea would be to explore the potential of an “energy efficiency label” for mortgages used to finance energy efficiency works in residential units. As small and medium construction companies have a leading role in energy renovation, there is common ground for cooperation between the two associations.
EBC was also invited to participate in the second Roundtable on Energy Efficiency organised by the EMF-ECBC, which will take place in Brussels on 26 February 2016. EBC will be the only representative of construction companies in the meeting.
