ECON and BUDG should accept ITRE vote in favour of energy efficiency and SMEs

On 14 April the ITRE Committee of the European Parliament voted its opinion on the European Fund for Strategic Investment (EFSI) regulation’s proposal. EBC is very satisfied with the result of the vote. In particular, the ITRE Committee added an amendment to article 5 to earmark € 5 billion for energy efficiency projects and € 5 billion for SMEs.
EBC urges the ECON and BUDG Committees to maintain this amendment in their vote on Monday 20 April. This is the most effective way to make the Juncker Plan works to ensure that SMEs will access the funds and to produce all the positive effects linked to more energy efficient buildings in Europe.
This means reducing the dependency on energy imports and the carbon footprint, while producing qualified jobs in a sustainable way across the European Union.
