A new start for social dialogue?

The European Commission is willing to strengthen the European Social Dialogue 30 years after it was founded. To discuss this the European Commission organised the high level conference “A New Start for Social Dialogue” on 5 March in Brussels. European cross-industry and sectoral social partners, among which UEAPME, took part in the panel discussions.
However, currently the European social dialogue for construction needs to be reformed to include the representation of micro, small and medium-sized construction companies of several European countries. These are represented by the European Builders Confederation, which has not yet been recognised as a European social partner.
EBC President Patrick Liébus met cabinet members of Vice President Dombrovskis and Commissioner Thyssen to discuss about readdressing this situation.
