The project “Under Construction 2” aimed at improving the conditions and the records for Health and Safety in construction SMEs through the coordinated approach of social partners. Under Construction 2 was coordinated by EBC and received the co-financing grant under the budget heading on the European Social Dialogue. It ran from January to December 2009.
This project gathered 13 trade-unions, construction and inter-professional SME associations from 11 countries. 7 are from the new Member States and candidate countries: Czech Republic, Hungary, Lithuania, Latvia, Romania, Malta and Turkey.
The project aimed to:
• Contribute to the dissemination of the EU-OSHA campaign tools in order to ensure a wide circulation among construction SME associations and ultimately among construction SMEs
• Organise an exchange of good practices among construction SME associations about information and assistance to SMEs in the field of Health and Safety at work
• Strengthen social dialogue in the construction sector through a closer cooperation between construction SME associations and trade unions in the field of Health and Safety at work. This is particularly needed in the new Member States and candidate countries
• Contribute to the European Week for Safety and Health at Work (October 2009)
