Vacancy notice: EBC Standardisation Officer

WHO WE ARE

The European Builders Confederation (EBC) is a European confederation exclusively representing construction crafts and SMEs in Europe. The EBC Secretariat, based in Brussels, ensures the day-to-day activity of the association and is currently looking for a Standardisation Technical Officer (full time). EBC is a founding member of Small Business Standards, the European organisation representing SMEs at all levels in the standardisation community.

WHAT WE ASK

The Standardisation Technical Officer will work on the construction sector related activities of Small Business Standards (SBS), the European organisation representing SMEs in the standardisation arena, as per Annex III of European Regulation 1025/2012.

The successful candidate will work as an integral part of the EBC team in the secretariat, but devoting his/her full time to SBS, reporting directly to the EBC Secretary General and working in close contact with SBS & SMEunited staff dedicated to the project.

His/her tasks include managing and coordinating SBS construction-sector experts, convening and preparing technical meetings, and representing SBS positions on construction-related standardisation issues.

WHAT WE SEEK

The successful candidate will be a motivated, talented and very flexible professional. She/he will have a technical academic background, preferably engineering/architecture. A first experience in a standards-related organisation is an asset.

Deep knowledge of the EU legal and standardisation framework concerning construction is required, especially of the Construction Products Regulation (EU) No 305/2011 and the European Standardisation Regulation (EU) No 1025/2012.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in English is required. Proficient knowledge of another European language is a relevant asset. The candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team and will have at least 2 years of relevant professional experience.

WHAT WE OFFER

EBC offers a long-term contract to the successful candidate and the gross monthly salary will be fixed according to professional experience. Lunch vouchers are also provided. The position allows and requires flexible working hours, but awards satisfaction, responsibilities and potential for growth to a dedicated professional.  The starting date for the successful candidate is early January.
