What's next: standards for higher performance buildings

This June 21 the European Builders Confederation (EBC) will bring together leading experts from standardisation at a preeminent seminar during the Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW), the must-attend event on energy in Europe.

EBC seminar will focus on the role of standardisation towards higher energy performance of buildings. Panelists EBC will convene some of the biggest names in this sector. Involving SMEs in the standardisation process The construction sector has a significant influence on the environment, energy consumption and climate change. That’s why EBC is investing effort in promoting standardisation in assessing buildings’ energy performance. Standardisation is crucial for the construction sector, especially for SMEs: it creates added value for the energy retrofitting market - which is largely made of SMEs - as it creates common methods aimed at assessing buildings energy performance of buildings. This session will be focusing on the recent publication of the international standard ISO 52000-1 on Energy Performance of Buildings.

Moreover, it will be presented how CEN (Comité Européen Standardisation) and the EU are on a fast track to develop the procedures and standards for buildings, systems and products towards low energy buildings and nearly zero energy buildings.
